Still no improvement in the weather. I haven't seen the sky in 5 days! Tonight G and I have been looking for photos for me to enter in a competition at work. This is one of them, taken between Christmas and New Year. Btw, PS amazes me every time I use it =)

I've completely lost my inspiration for photos. Everything is just white and grey. We've had very strange weather these last couple of days with cold temperatures and mist, so there is a lot of hoar frost on trees and everything. It looks very nice, but since even the sky is just white it's hard to make something nice out of it. I need some sun!

This is the big boat I shot the other day from a different angle. Impressive!

They had a naming ceremony for her yesterday, and today there were festivities in the harbour before she took off. We took a walk on the other side of the river instead.

See what I mean about the weather? You can hardly see the bridge for all the mist, and still this is clearer than it was when we got there! Btw, that's my office building on the other shore.

During lunch today I just had to get out to take some pictures of the river. It looks so cool with all the ice floating towards the sea (I wonder what happens to it when it gets there?) and the weather was beautiful today!

We have a huge ship in the harbour this week - Stena Arctica (couldn't find any info in English, sorry...) which is now the biggest ship of the Swedish trade fleet. It's 250 m long!

The ice is wave surfing!

I have a thing for oranges at the moment. I made my own juice today - you really don't get much out of two oranges!

Apart from that it's mostly been TV tonight - season II of Desperate Housewives just started! And tomorrow it's Lost, and Rome, and Weeds... How am I going to have the time for all this TV?

And btw - it's snowing again. Can't remember the last time we had this much winter in Gothenburg. But I'd rather have this than rain, for sure!

My grandmother turned 93 (!) the other day, so today we went to visit her with my parents and sister.

Looking at old pictures. It is amazing how much has happened during the 93 years of my grandmother's life. She has seen two World Wars and the technological revolution. Hearing her talk of old days is wonderful, you can hardly imagine the way they lived back then! Just the fact that they were 14 kids in the family is extraordinary.

This old clock was bought by my great grandparents in America, probably in the 1890's. They had both emigrated to the US and that's where they met, but then they decided to come back to Sweden. "If this clock could talk", my grandmother says, "the things it would have to tell!". Apparantly my parents saw a clock with the same face and clock work when they were in Brazil a couple of months ago.

Today we watched Chalmers Big Jump Open, a cool snowboard and skiing event that takes place at Chalmers each year, right next to where we live! You can see our house in the background.

Personally I prefer to watch snowboard jumps, but the skiers did great too. I haven't been skiing for 8 years, I would probably break every bone in my body if I tried something like this!

Apparantly this was the boyfriend of a friend from work! They are also our neighbours, so he probably had the shortest distance to travel this morning...

Landing still standing up is obviously the trickiest part of this sport. A lot of jumps ended up with a big cloud of smoky snow.

I've been on a business trip to Barcelona. I stayed less than 24 hrs, so as usual all I saw was the hotel, the local office and the airport! I know I shouldn't complain since a lot of people never get to travel, but business trips are really not as glamourous as they sound... But it was nice to see the sun and feel the warm breeze. 16 C and not a cloud, I felt as if I had been travelling in time!

That beach looks nice, I'll have to check it out next time =)

Flying over the Pyrenees.

At least you get to see some cool sunsets while flying!

People in motion at Schiphol Airport. I love the floors here! Schiphol has become really nice lately, you almost don't mind being stuck here for a couple of hours... I generally like airports and thinking about all those people travelling somewhere. Where are they all going and what have they seen so far?

This was what awaited me back home. -8 C and a snowy wind... what a contrast! I wouldn't have mind a few more days in Barcelona... I'm sorry the shot is a bit blurry but I was freezing!

We spent most of today at different stores, looking for boring but necessary things for our home. After that we went for a walk to get some air and try out my camera a bit more.

This is a building at Chalmers. It reminds me of the elephant in "Fem myror är fler än fyra elefanter", a kids TV-show from the 70's that have been teaching kids to read and count ever since. The title translates as "Five ants are more than four elephants". Brilliant!

Who would have thought there is a manor in the middle of the campus?
Looks kind of spooky, don't you think?

Friday the 13th... turned out to be quite a good day actually!

G and I went out for a drink with the girls.
V was visiting from Malmö - an all too rare event these days!
(Btw, Å used to be a model. You can tell by the way she's the only one who's not embarassed by a camera...)

Tip of the day: If you want to take someone's picture without them noticing - use a mirror!

I could use a good night out dancing!
None of that this time though - to everyone's surprise?!

I have had my first gig shoot with my new camera. Once again Strasse, this time at Sticky Fingers. A better gig than last time, but the lighting was even worse...

One way of making not so good pictures a little better - turn them black&white! =)
Here is my new friend Ken Sandin again.

Russ, singer.
Hopefully we will make it to SAMA this year. I look forward to seeing these guys on a bigger stage and with a bigger crowd.

Defrosting the freezer. Could you possibly have much more fun on a Monday night? *lol*

I have finally managed to get rid of my posting backlog! Photoblog has been updated with 28-31 Dec and 5-7 Jan. Click around if you're curious of what I've been up to lately!

Anx, Gnapp and Z digging in to the incredible cakes at Taxinge Castle. Expensive, but well worth a visit! Never let your eyes decide how many cakes to pick though, one is more than enough!

The castle from the outside.

Trying out my super-macro function =) But the lighting was not so good inside this cave...

And trying out my 12x optical zoom and image stabilizer =)

The F family chasing each other.

G of course brought his camera too. Results will most likely be published on www.eterisk.org.

Trying out my new camera on our hosts for the weekend. The weather was really grey, so not exactly ideal for picture snapping.

Z was fascinated by the grown-up's snow ball fight. "Mummy!" he shouted when Anx threw snow balls at the boys. I kept my distance; snow ball fights are not really my cup of tea.

Skiing in central Stockholm, near Hammarby Sjöstad.

Here it is - my new love!

And this is my first picture taken with it =) I promise I will improve! But what is to be expected when you buy it during a car trip across the country and it's getting dark?

I'm in Stockholm for the weekend, so probably no new posts for a couple of days. I know I haven't finished posting my holiday pics, please be patient! We're visiting this little fellow (and his parents); only thing is he's about twice as old now as in this picture, so I don't expect he'll look anything like this!

On the way up there I will also buy a new camera! Which should guarantee that there will be new posts when I get back... =)

This picture was taken last week; since I'm back at work I don't have that many opportunities for snapping at the moment. One of my favourites though, so it deserves a separate post.

Tonight we've been to see Narnia - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I'm a big fan of this kind of movies (Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter etc.) so I really liked it. I've been re-reading the books lately (in English of course); I haven't read them since I was a kid. I've only gotten to book 4 so far though, better catch up!

I have started posting the pictures I've been taking between Christmas and New Year's, so please feel free to browse around if you like! And stop by tomorrow as well for more.

Happy New Year!

Just a quick post to let you all know I'm back in town. I have lots of snaps to share with you; I'll try to get them posted a.s.ap. but it might take a day or two before it's all done. Don't lose your spirit!
